The jury selection process for Cory Batey, the former Vanderbilt University football player facing rape charges.

Batey's attorney filed two last-minute motions this morning.

One motion asked for another continuance in the case regarding the cases being severed so late.

Attorney Worrick Robinson called it "unfair" to Batey, saying more time was needed to sift through transcripts of testimony.

Davidson County Criminal Court Judge Monte Watkins denied that motion.

Then, Batey's attorney notified the judge of Batey's request for a new attorney.

The judge denied that motion, saying it was too late in the process.

Nearly 50 potential jurors have been excused so far for various hardships by Judge Watkins.
