Lady Vols prepare for Elite 8 matchup against Syracuse
(WBIR) --- The Lady Vols are preparing for a rematch in their Elite 8 game on Sunday. They'll take on No. 4 seed Syracuse at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Syracuse and Tennessee met earlier in the season on Nov. 20th. The Lady Vols won that game 57-55, but coach Holly Warlick said Tennessee was a different team then. She added that the Lady Vols weren't playing that well and didn't have a leader.
The winner will go the Final Four in Indianapolis, something the Lady Vols haven't done since 2008.
The No. 7 seed Lady Vols are coming off a win over No. 3 seed Ohio State. UT's Mercedes Russell had a career high 25 points. The Lady Vols also suffered some injuries, however. Andraya Carter, Jordan Reynolds and Bashaara Graves ended up on the injured list.
No. 4 seed Syracuse is also coming off a big win over No. 1 seed South Carolina. They beat the Gamecocks 80-72.
The Lady Vols have had a rough season, but seem to be finding their groove in the NCAA tournament.
