Former Erlanger employee arrested for stealing "a lot" of narcotics

Posted: Updated:

A local woman faces several charges, after she admitted to stealing narcotics from the hospital where she used to work.

According to the arrest affidavit, Beth Cagle admitted to stealing what she called "a lot" of narcotics from Erlanger over the course of several months.

The actual amount of stolen drugs is still being counted, but hospital officials say a minimum of 492 vials of Demerol are missing, with Cagle's security code used to gain access from the pixis machines each time.

Cagle is charged with possession of narcotics for resale, five counts of burglary, tampering with evidence, and theft over $500.

This isn't the first time something like this has happened locally.

Former Hamilton County corrections officer Ryan Epperson admitted to dressing up as a doctor to steal drugs from local hospitals.

The 27-year-old took a plea deal in January.

Instead of prison time, Epperson went to the county's drug court to complete a rigorous recovery-based program.
