UPDATE: Bradley County home invasion still under investigation

Posted: Updated:
BRADLEY COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: The Bradley County Sheriff's Office have arrested a woman for her role in a home invasion Tuesday morning.

Jennifer Stevenson has been charged with Facilitation to Commit Aggravated Burglary, Facilitation to Commit Aggravated Assault, Vandalism, and other charges are pending at this time.

The incident occurred at 182 Gilliland Drive S.E., where a man was shot and transported to Erlanger Medical Center for treatment.

The shooting is still under investigation.

An investigator with the Sheriff's Office said this is a complicated case with multiple people involved. Capt. Steve Lawson said it's still too early to say what exactly happened inside that home.

"There was somebody home, and some other people outside," Capt. Lawson said, "And as soon as we figure out the particulars of the case we'll release that but right now I'm telling you what I can."

A neighbor tells Channel 3 she was one of the people inside the home at the time of the invasion.

The neighbor says Stevenson and the man who was shot broke down the door and entered the home armed with a gun.

The neighbor got scared and called 911.

The Sheriff's Office will not confirm if the person who was shot was also involved in the burglary.

"The person who was shot, and I'll give you this much, did not live there," Capt. Lawson said.

Police say they've towed vehicles from the scene and are processing evidence.

Residents say it's usually a safe place to live.

"I thought this was a good neighborhood... a shooting around the corner? Really? you never hear of anything around here," said Billy Johnson.

While police won't confirm who pulled the trigger, they do say this wasn't a random attack.

"I think there is a new relationship and I think they know each other and there's some reason behind it, it wasn't a random drive-by shooting or home invasion," said Capt. Lawson.

The person who had been shot is still at Erlanger Hospital in stable condition.

The Sheriff's Office says they're confident more charges will be filed in the next few weeks.
