2016 Chevy Silverado stolen from Marion County dealership

Gentry Chevrolet in South Pittsburg is out $60,000.

In February, someone stole a 2016 black Chevy Silverado from the dealership's lot.

“The truck we are looking for right now was reported stolen in Kimball, TN on February 16th of this year,” said Clint Shrum, Sheriff, Grundy County Sheriff’s Office.

Thursday, Grundy County Deputies found parts from the Silverado, but not the body.

Deputies were looking for a fugitive at this Hubbard Cove house when they came across the parts.

They didn't find who they were looking for, but found this man, 27-year-old Jonathan Creek.

Deputies say he was operating a chop shop.

“This residence has actually been on our radar for a little bit. We just hadn't had the opportunity to get in and get a search warrant or anything like that,” said Shrum.

Deputies say upon searching creek's property at his consent, they found two stolen vehicles, and car parts belonging to the Silverado.

Deputies are trying to locate the truck's body, but say creek isn't talking.

“It slows down the process, but, they have the right not to answer any questions. It takes a little longer, but we will still get to the bottom of it,” said Shrum.

Sheriff Shrum says chop shops are uncommon in Grundy County.

Not like it was in the late 90's.

“They would take vehicles, let's say Chevy, and they would take beds of those trucks, and they would ship them to different states. Back in the 80s and 90's it was a real lucrative business,” said Shrum.

Deputies say it's hard to tell how many cars have come through creek's shop.

But say they are working to figure that out and locate other stolen vehicles that may have come through here.

“We want to make sure we can prosecute this, and get him the most time out of it,” said Shrum.

Creek’s first court appearance is April 1st.

If you know where the truck's body is located call the Grundy County Sheriff's Office at 931-692-3466, a $1,000 reward is being offered.
