Text message mix-up announcing baby's birth ends with hilarious surprise

Posted: Updated:

Could you imagine celebrating the birth of your new baby with complete strangers?

That's exactly what happened to one family welcoming their bundle of joy into the world at a Bainbridge, Ga. hospital.

Tallahassee, Fla. brothers Deorick and Dennis Williams were going about their day when they accidentally got included in a group text message from an unknown number notifying members that a baby boy was on the way.

Deorick sent a message back to the group offering congrats but added that he thought someone had the wrong number. Instead of ignoring the messages, though, Deorick and Dennis decided to make the trip to the hospital to help celebrate the new addition.

"Y'all don't know me," Deorick wrote back in a message, which he screenshotted, "but me and the boys will be thru to take pictures with the baby."

A member of the group wrote back apologizing to him for getting "caught up in the baby birthing," but the brothers followed up with that promise and showed up at the Bainbridge hospital with gifts to welcome the new 7 lb 11 oz. baby boy.

Later, a member of the family of the newborn explained the whole hilarious ordeal on Facebook, explaining that the number they thought was for a family member turned out to belong to one of the brothers.

They went on to say what a blessing the two were to the family for showing up with gifts. "They were so sweet and kind to do this!" they posted. "You 2 are great guys and thank you for giving to someone you didn't know!...If we all only had this kind of heart."
