UPDATE: Brainerd Rd. shooting suspect arrested

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Chattanooga police say known gang member Darius Harris has arrested in connection with gas station shooting over the weekend.


A driver crashed into some pumps at a local gas station after being shot early Sunday morning.

The crash happened at Kanku's on Brainerd Road shortly after 3:00 a.m.

Chattanooga Police say they found an empty car crashed into the gas pumps after receiving a shots fired call from the area.

A short time later, police were notified by a local hospital that a shooting victim, 26-year-old David Franklin, arrived with a wound to the stomach.

Investigators set up a crime scene, believing the crash may have been related to the shooting and determined that it was.

A release from the department says, "Chattanooga Police Violent Crimes Investigators established probable cause indicating the criminal involvement of a suspect."

Police say warrants have been obtained for the suspect, 20-year-old Darius Harris, for Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Felony Reckless Endangerment, Felony Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Possession of Drugs for Resale (Heroin/Meth), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
