UPDATE: Endangered child alert canceled, child found safe in AR

UPDATE: The TBI says a toddler missing from Monroe County has been found safe in Arkansas.

Officials say 2-year-old Makayla Weidner was found in Alma, Arkansas with her father, Wesley Weidner, who does not have custody of her.

The toddler was found unharmed.

Her father is in police custody.


The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has issued a statewide Endangered Child Alert on behalf of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office for 2-year old Makayla Hope Weidner.

Makayla is a white female, 3’0” tall, 30 pounds, red hair and blue eyes. She was taken by her non-custodial father, Wesley Eugene Weidner Jr, after a domestic assault against the mother.  

Weidner is wanted for aggravated assault, custodial interference, and failure to appear.  Weidner has made threats to kill himself. He may be driving a 1999 White Honda Del Sol with TN tag 7A5-3F6.
