The Chattanooga Police Department responded to a report of a victim suffering from a gun shot wound early Wednesday morning.
The shooting happened in the 2500 block of Duncan Ave. around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Officials say 18-year-old Seth Herdnett was driving south on Dodds Ave. and turned onto Duncan Ave., when a dark colored sedan pulled alongside the victim's vehicle.
The suspect began shooting into Herdnett's vehicle before driving off.
Herdnett transported himself to a nearby hospital with a gun shot wound to the buttock.
The victim is currently receiving medical attention for the non-life-threatening injury.

Police spokeswoman Evie West tells Channel 3, the child was left in the van for about 20 minutes while the temperature was about 93 degrees outside.
