(WBIR) The TBI is investigating an officer involved shooting that happened early Sunday morning in Lenoir City.

According to the preliminary investigation, a Lenoir City Police Department officer was sent to check on a call of a possible DUI. The officer saw the pickup truck at a gas station at 1204 US 321.

When the officer tried to arrest the driver, 33-year-old Joshua Grubb of Lebanon, Tenn., he drove away. According to TBI's early investigation, the officer jumped into the bed of the truck and stayed there while the suspect drove down the road.

The driver refused to stop after the officer requested he do so. The officer fired shots into the cab of the truck, hitting and killing the driver. The truck came to a stop on the side of the road at another convenience store on Highway 321.

The officer had minor injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing. TBI will release the identity of the suspect once relatives have been notified.
