Bradley Central was just two wins away from a state championship when they fell short Friday, 38-31 against Oak Ridge in the AAA girls' basketball semifinals.

The Bearettes got out to a rough start after sophomore point guard Rhyne Howard grabbed two fouls in the first four minutes of the game. Head Coach Jason Reutter decided to sit Howard for the remainder of the first half, but Bradley Central was able to hold onto a 15-13 lead at halftime.

Junior Halle Hughes led the Bearettes with 14 total points on the day, followed by senior Julia Gaither with 10.

Sophomore Mykia Dowdell Bradley Central the most trouble with 15 points, nine rebounds and two steals.

The Wildcats were able to catch up to the Bearettes in the fourth quarter. Bradley Central struggled to make their shots in the end, and fell 38-31 to Oak Ridge, the lowest scoring game for Bradley Central this season,

"These girls have been in so many tight games and they have come out on top every time this post season except one and that was today" said Head Coach Jason Reuter. "The breaks didn't go our way today. We didn't shoot real well and you have to credit Oak Ridge."

Bradley Central is now 38-24 all-time in the state tournament.

Oak Ridge will take on Riverdale in the AAA state championship at 1 p.m. CST Saturday.
