Man shot, wounded outside Alabama Walmart store

FORT PAYNE, AL (AP) - Authorities say a man shot and wounded outside a Walmart store in northeast Alabama has been flown to a Tennessee hospital.

Police in Fort Payne say they were called to the store's parking lot around 7:42 p.m. Wednesday, where they found a man with gunshot wounds. The Gadsden Times reports (bit.ly/1QMBayY) that the other person involved in the dispute remained at the scene.

Fort Payne police Capt. Lee Traylor said the wounded man, 33-year-old Charles Taft Pope of Fort Payne, was taken to a local hospital and then flown to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Police said no charges were immediately filed.
