School Board holds meetings for parents on school overcrowding

HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

The Hamilton County Department of Education will hold five community meetings to address overcrowding at public schools and the opening of the new Middle Valley Elementary School.  

These meetings are to allow the public response to changes for the 2016-17 school year that will affect students and parents in several areas of the county, according to a news release.

Zoning meetings will be held during the next two weeks, and parents are encouraged to attend. 

The meetings are scheduled for following dates and locations:

  • Monday, March 14, 2016 – Meeting to be held at Falling Water Elementary (affects Falling Water Elementary students)
  • Tuesday, March 15, 2016 – Meeting to be held at Loftis Middle School (affects Ganns Middle Valley, Allen, McConnell, Daisy, and Soddy Elementary school students)
  • Monday, March 21, 2016 – Meeting to be held at Alpine Crest Elementary (affects Alpine Crest and DuPont Elementary students)
  • Tuesday, March 22, 2016 – Meeting to be held at Calvin Donaldson Elementary (affects Calvin Donaldson, East Lake Elementary, Battle Academy, Brown Academy, Orchard Knob Elementary, and East Side Elementary students)
  • Thursday, March 24, 2016 – Meeting to be held at Barger Academy (affects Barger Academy and Spring Creek Elementary students)

All meetings will begin at 6:00 p.m.
