Man arrested for shooting ex-girlfriend

Posted: Updated:

A  man who police call a validated gang member is accused of shooting and critically injuring his ex-girlfriend at her birthday party has been arrested.
Bobby Johnson, 33, was booked into jail Friday morning on several charges, including attempted first-degree murder.
Chattanooga police say he shot 34-year-old Kanya Thompson while celebrating her birthday late Monday night at a home on Fagan Street.
Police say the two got into a fight and that she used a box cutter to cut Johnson across the face while defending herself.
Witnesses say Johnson left the party but returned with a gun and shot Thompson twice in her legs.
She was taken to a local hospital for surgery.
Police have been looking for Johnson since the shooting but picked him up earlier this morning.
He’s being held on a $120,000 bond and is due in court March 21.
