No needles, no scalpels, during Erlanger East “Vas Madness”

Posted: Updated:

No needles, no scalpels, and a quick recovery are the winning combination for vasectomies during Erlanger East Hospital "Vas Madness" on March 16, coinciding with March Madness.

“For men and their partners who are ready for a relatively permanent solution, vasectomy is a very attractive option for birth control,” says Anand Shridharani, M.D., fellowship-trained urologist and reproductive and sexual health specialist with UT Erlanger Urology and Assistant Professor of Urology with the UT College of Medicine Chattanooga.

Dr. Shridharani performs vasectomies with no needles and no scalpels, so pain is minimal.  The actual procedure takes between eight and 10 minutes. No anesthesia is required, and patients leave the clinic shortly after surgery. Those undergoing this procedure can expect to stay at Erlanger East for about an hour from start to finish.

During the short recovery period after surgery, men can relax at home and have a ball watching March Madness as they recover.

As an added bonus for those scheduling procedures on Wednesday, March 16, salon services from the Beehive Salon will be available at no charge on site for the spouses or partners who accompany their loved ones.

Erlanger East says a limited number of appointments are available on March 16. To schedule an appointment for the procedure at Erlanger East Hospital, call 778-UROL(8765) or email
