DALTON, GA (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Monday afternoon, a gold Chevy Tahoe rounded a curve and plowed into Brandon Epperson’s family home.

“That was our living room right there. You can see the couch. We had the TV sitting in front of it,” said Epperson.

The impact sent debris flying into neighbor’s yards, knocking out car windows. Witnesses say two men inside jumped out of the truck and ran away.

Epperson’s father had been inside painting, just half an hour earlier. They were getting the residence ready for Ella Macy, Epperson’s daughter, who was born prematurely on Thanksgiving Day and has been at Erlanger ever since getting stronger.

Unfortunately, the baby, her older brother, nor her parents will sleep in this house anytime soon.

“It’s not right for somebody to do something like this. How would they feel if it happened to them?” says Epperson.

Knowing Cavender Road, Epperson’s not that surprised.

“A lot of people speed through here. You can constantly hear cars coming through here,” said Epperson.

As a matter of fact, one year ago, he says, someone totaled a car in his yard, just a week after he bought the new home.

“He got right out of the car and started apologizing, making sure everybody was okay,” says Epperson.

He doesn't understand why these men didn't do the same.

“I understand people make mistakes, but you got to own up to it,” says Epperson.

He’s just thankful no one was home at the time.

“It’s pretty scary. You can see where my couch is, that's where we sat all the time, watching TV. It could have been anybody sitting there,” says Epperson.

The homeowner has property insurance.

Deputies are searching for the two men.
