An East Hamilton School teacher has been selected the Southeast Regional Teacher of the Year for grades 9-12 division.

Kirsten Legac teaches Honors Algebra 2 and Honors Pre-Calculus and has taught in Tennessee public schools for 10 years. 

She has facilitated professional learning workshops for the district, and has served on several high school state textbook adoption committees. As the math representative for the school, Ms. Legac assists the faculty with new math teaching strategies and provides input for the math teachers.  In addition, she has facilitated ACT math help sessions for the students at East Hamilton on Saturday mornings.

Ms. Legac has been a Gates Foundation Formative Assessment Professional Development participant, an ACT certified Princeton Review participant, and a recipient of the Fund for Teachers Fellowship grant, 2015.

Ms. Legac will compete as the representative of the Southeast Region at the Grand Division and State Competition Level for Tennessee's High School Teacher of the Year.
