A Chattanooga man is behind bars awaiting his day in court, after allegedly trying to burn down his home early Tuesday morning.

Chattanooga firefighters were dispatched on a reported fire at 614 North Parkdale Avenue. CPD officers arrived first, and found evidence of a fire on the garage attached to the house. When firefighters arrived and put out the hot spots with a portable fire extinguisher. When officers noticed the smell of gasoline, fire investigators were called to the scene.

After working on the case throughout the day, investigators located and charged Arthur Tatum, 36, with Aggravated Arson. The charges were upgraded because the fire endangered the lives of one adult and one child in the house. No one was injured after the fire died down. Captain Anthony Moore said the incident was related to a domestic dispute.

After being charged, Tatum was transferred to the Hamilton County Jail.
