Two arrested in series of car break-ins

HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

Deputies from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s arrested two people in connection with a rash of car burglaries near Alabama Road in Apison.

The break-ins were considered to be related, according to a news release from HCSO spokesman Matt Lea.

Items such as stereo  equipment, (1) pistol, credit cards, electronic equipment and assorted personal items were stolen.

Monday, detectives arrested Tyler Kennedy Hanks, 23, and charged him with:

  • Burglary of an Auto
  • Theft of Property over $1,000.00
  • Theft of Property under $500.00
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession of a controlled substance – schedule II
  • Possession of a controlled substance – schedule VI


Kayla Brooke Covington, age 22, was arrested Tuesday, and charged with Theft of Property under $500.

Some of the stolen items were recovered by investigators and returned to the owners.

Anyone having information related to these car break-ins is asked to call the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
