A Lieutenant with the Chattanooga Fire Department is on administrative leave following a weekend arrest.
Tennessee State Troopers arrested Jerry Ralph Lee Jr., 43, early Monday morning and charged him with driving under the influence, implied consent and expired registration.
According to court documents, a trooper stopped Lee for crossing lanes and having expired tags on his vehicle. The trooper noted a strong smell of alcohol when he approached the vehicle. Lee submitted to field sobriety tests, which authorities say confirmed he was impaired.
“Once we were informed, Lt. Lee was placed on Administrative Leave with pay until we get a police report that confirms the arrest,” said Bruce Garner, spokesperson for the Chattanooga Fire Department, who confirms Lee is an employee of the department. “When that happens, he will then be placed on Leave Without Pay until he resolves his case in court.”
East Ridge court records show East Ridge Police arrested Lee on a domestic assault charge last year. It was dropped in April of this year.
Lee is due in court on the DUI charge on January 19.
