Chattanooga firefighters save dog from house fire

Posted: Updated:

Chattanooga firefighters saved a dog's life after a fire broke out at a Chattanooga home this morning.

It happened around 9:00am Tuesday when Chattanooga firefighters arrived at home on Stuart Street to find the house with heavy smoke.
Additional fire crews were called to the scene for backup.

Officials say the house was empty when the fire broke out.

But a neighbor heard a dog bark, and quickly alerted the firefighters.

The dog did suffer some smoke inhalation and was having some difficulty breathing.

The firefighters pulled him out and gave him oxygen that was supplied by the McKamey Animal Center to the Chattanooga Fire Department.

The house has significant fire damage to the rear, with water, and smoke damage.

The American Red Cross was called in to assist the residents.

No other injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
