Walker Valley High School is sending 121 band members, 20 members of the choir, and another hundred parents and chaperones to spend six days on a trip that's become a tradition: the London New Years Day Parade.

Some have made the trip before, but for others, it's a very special first in their lives.

Director Alan Hunt has taken the band to London four times before, every three years since 2004.  Band and choir members who've made the trip in the past tell their younger classmates, it's very different from the smaller parades in which they usually participate.

At the end of the week, they'll return to Walker Valley, gearing up for the second semester.  But for now, everyone is excited about a chance to take their talents "across the pond," creating memories to last a lifetime.

There will be some down time as well. They'll see Oxford University, the River Thames Windsor Castle and much more. They are the only Tennessee band to be invited this year, and you can see the parade on Friday streamed live online
