GA man's body found after car is swept away by flood waters

ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities in northwest Georgia say they've recovered the body of a man whose car was swept away by floodwaters.

Gordon County Chief Deputy Robert Paris said authorities believe the man was driving on Reeves Station Road Saturday afternoon, when floodwaters overtook his Toyota.

Paris said the car wasn't located until late in the day Sunday, but it wasn't safe for divers to reach it in the swift-moving waters until daylight Monday and his body was then recovered.

Paris said the man, George Treadaway, in his 60s, was found inside of the vehicle.

Separately, Paris said a second body was recovered Monday at Self Lake in another part of the county, and they were still investigating how that person died.

Forecasters say more rain was expected Monday in the county about 60 miles northwest of Atlanta.
