A 93-year-old woman and two others are safe Christmas night, following a water rescue in Hixson.
Hamilton County EMS spokeswoman Amy Maxwell says a car was swept off Boy Scout Road and Sandwich Drive by rising waters when the driver went around a "Road Closed" sign.
The car was pinned against a tree, forcing members of the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department to free the three people in it.
Firefighters worked quickly and safely removed the elderly woman along with another adult and one female.
Maxwell says, "If you have to get on the road this evening, Hamilton County Emergency Services urges motorists to pay attention to the ROAD CLOSURE signs and try not to go around them."
"Turn around and don't drown," Maxwell adds.
