Christmas meal provided to families of Erlanger patients

Posted: Updated:

Suzanne Booth and her family are spending their Christmas at Erlanger.

“It’s just a little bit of a different Christmas, but we are very blessed,” said Booth.

Usually it's at home, but with Booth's mother as a patient in Erlanger they have to spend it here.

The Jewish Congregation of Chattanooga wants hospital staff and people like Booth’s Christmas to be jolly.

“You don't want to be in the hospital on Christmas and if you are here and your family comes to visit you there is no place to come and eat,” said Andy Hodes, Jewish Congregation.

Members of the Jewish community partnered with Erlanger to fill dozens of to go plates with food. It took about 76 volunteers to make the event a success for its third year.

“We believe in trying to repair the world and help other people. And, Christmas Day is just the perfect day so we can volunteer,” said Hodes.

Bringing a smile to hospital staff and family members who are spending time with their loved one's in a place they aren’t use to spending their holidays.

“This meal has been just a blessing, because this Christmas has been a little bit different. We’ve been worried about my mother,” said Booth.
