An early morning crash at the Interstate 75/24 junction claimed one life Thursday.
Chattanooga police say a 1997 Ford Explorer was traveling north on I-75 to I-24 west and lost control on the wet roadway.
The Explorer lost control on the wet roadway and struck the guardrail twice.
A passenger in the rear seat, Maria Sandoval, was ejected and later succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.
The driver and his teenage son suffered minor injuries. They were treated and released.
The family was returning home to Nebraska after vacationing with family in Florida.
A vehicle was traveling west on Hamill Road and had stopped at the railroad crossing. The gates were extended with flashing lights and sounding bell.
