Posted: Updated:

JC Groves was Periscoping Thursday’s nasty weather.

“It was a big bolt of lightning that's for sure,” said Groves.

Groves worried someone's house was hit by the lightning.

Only a few minutes passed before he learned from a neighbor that a house caught fire. His neighbor Jason Bone filmed the lightning’s wrath.

“I was worried for the neighbors. I didn't know if they were in there or not,” said Bone.

Four engines arrived on scene to put the fire out.

A husband, wife, and dog escaped. Clint Benson’s neighbor notified him that flames were heading in his homes direction.

“It was smoky and eventually those flames picked up speed and took over the top of the house,” said Benson.

Luckily Benson's house received only minor damages. He and his neighbors say they are everyone is ok. They say a house can be replaced, but a life cannot.

The house is valued at over 150,000. The homeowner has property insurance.

A morning house fire on Heatherwood Lane in Ringgold sent firefighters out Thursday.

A Channel 3 viewer shared this video that shows the rear of house nearly fully engulfed in flames.

An eyewitness said they heard lightning before the fire broke out.

There's currently no word on injuries or a dollar amount for the fire damage to the home.
