AREA LAKES RED HOT AS MILD WINTER KEEPS FISH ACTIVE

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Area fishermen are enjoying lots of action on the water these days as the official 2015 winter remains mild. Water temperatures all across the state remain well above average and are creating a bonus fishing season for Tennesseans and surrounding area fishermen.

Reports all across the state are in the good to excellent range. Wally Kilpatrick owner of Yankum Custom Tackle has been cashing in on some of the smallmouth action at Tims Ford Lake as well as below Chickamauga Dam Wally says’’ The hair jig bite has been awesome the smallmouth have been slamming these hair jigs over there and we have been having a ball. Below Chickamauga we have been throwing the TN Rig with Producer Swim Baits and catching some giant smallmouth there as well’’.

Chickamauga has been on fire the last couple of weeks with fish being caught using a variety of techniques. Numerous five-fish limits of bass have been hitting the 20 lb. plus range. TN RIGS, rattle baits, and blade baits have been producing well, as fish remain in the 2-10 ft. range.

Greg at Soddy Custom tackle said “We have sold out of TN rigs several times already and rattle baits are in high demand.

Kentucky Lake reports are the same with huge strings of bass being caught on the TN Rigs and jerk baits.

With record breaking temperatures forecast for the next 5 days it’s time to spool up that new reel and head to your favorite lake for some great fishing during the holiday season.
