MURRAY COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Murray County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to Brown Bridge Road December 16 on reports that a one-year-old child was in cardiac arrest.

When deputies arrived they spoke to a family member who said he found two small children left in a bath tub. He said when he entered the bathroom the one-year-old child was face down in the bathtub, which was full of scolding hot water. The man attempted to give the child CPR until an ambulance arrived.

The family member told authorities that Sharon Carrell told him there was no water in the tub when she left the two children in the bathroom to outside to her van. She said she was gone two or three minutes.

The Murray County Sheriff’s Office has charged Carrell with second-degree murder, cruelty to a child and false statements.

On Facebook, Carrell posted several times since the incident asking for prayer for her family and the child.
