CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has disconnected the street lights along U.S. 27 northbound in the construction zone between the Interstate 24 junction to the Olgiati Bridge.

Within the next several days, the street lights along U.S. 27 southbound in the same construction zone will also be disconnected, according to TDOT spokesman Jennifer Flynn.

Once this is done, U.S. 27 in the project area will remain without street lighting until new lights are installed and activated during the final stages of the project, which is scheduled for completion in July 2019.

With both the lights and poles removed, motorists are advised to use caution when driving in the construction area, especially during the nighttime hours.
