A wet and unusually warm week ahead

Posted: Updated:
A spring-like weather pattern is developing across the Tennessee Valley, north Georgia, and western North Carolina this Christmas week.
Tuesday starts cloudy with areas of fog and mist. A few peeks of sun and isolated showers are possible this afternoon with highs in the mid-60s.
Rain becomes likely across the region overnight with lows in the 50s. Scattered showers and storms move through the area Wednesday with highs around 70°. Isolated severe storms can't be ruled out with damaging winds and/or hail.

Scattered showers and storms could return for Thursday with highs in the lower 70s, lows in the lower 60s. Christmas Day brings scattered showers with lower 70s (record high for Christmas is 75° in 1955; normal high is 50°).

Flood Watch is in effect for all of north Georgia until Christmas morning. This is where the heaviest rain is expected through the week.

Isolated showers are possible for the weekend with continued warmth. Highs reach near 70° with lows around 60°.
