SALE CREEK, TN (WRCB) -

A Sale Creek family lost their trailer early Monday morning to a fire.

Firefighters from the Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire on Daughery Ferry Road and found the trailer fully engulfed in flames.

The home’s resident told firefighters that he added wood to the wood stove used for heat and went back to bed.

Hours later, there awoke to the smell of smoke.

The trailer’s residents were able to escape without injury.

Sale Creek VFD Chief, Jimbo Aslinger said the home did not have smoke detectors.

The trailer is considered to be a total loss. The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

The American Red Cross is assisting three adults who lived there with their immediate needs.
