Authorities say a shoplifting suspect was fatally shot by a Tennessee sheriff's deputy.

Knoxville police spokesman Darrell Debunk says the deputies from the Knox County Sheriff's Office were treated for non life threatening injuries.

Debunk said the deputies saw the suspect shoplifting at a West Knoxville sporting goods store and pursued him into the parking lot.

Debunk said the suspect hit both deputies with his car. One of the deputies opened fire. The suspect crashed into parked vehicles and died at the scene.

Police have not identified the suspect or the deputies.
