Cut Gas Line Shuts Down Cherokee Blvd.

UPDATE: Chattanooga gas says the gas leak was actually a cut line. A third party contractor was working the area and accidentally cut a gas line.

Chattanooga gas crews are still on the scene working to repair the line.

They will call us to let us know when repairs are complete.

PREVIOUS STORY: Traffic is getting back to normal after a gas leak closed a portion of Cherokee Boulevard Friday.

Fire crews responded to Cherokee Boulevard around 11:30 a.m. on reports of a gas leak.

As a precaution, traffic was shut down between Market Street and Manufacturer’s Road. Chattanooga Police officers responded to help reroute traffic.

Around 2 p.m. the gas company was able to stop the leak and officers reopened traffic.

It’s not clear what caused the leak.
