There is a new chief operating officer for the city of Chattanooga.

Beginning in January, Maura Black Sullivan will take office.

Mayor Andy Berke made the announcement Thursday in a press release.

The new C.O.O. will replace Brent Goldberg who resigned in September. Berke appointed David Carmody to act as interim COO until the position was filled.

Sullivan is currently the interim executive director of the Memphis Housing Authority and served for five years as the deputy chief administrative officer for the city of Memphis.

Berke says she has over 20 years of experience in government and community service.

This replacement comes a short time after former chief of staff, Travis McDonough, was replaced by Stacey Richardson in November of this year.
