UPDATE: Train hits truck, killing driver

RHEA COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE:  Lt. Jeff Hill with the Dayton Police Department confirms 29-year-old Cody Jenson of Rhea County died in Wednesday’s crash on Walnut Grove Road.

Eyewitnesses told traffic investigators that Jenson drove his pickup truck around vehicles stopped as the crossing arms, which were down, and attempted to cross the railroad tracks. Jenson was struck by a Norfolk Southern train.

Jenson was pronounced dead by officials on the scene.

Hill says the crash, which is still under investigation, did not injure anyone else.


PREVIOUS STORY: Multiple agencies are on the scene of a train crash in Rhea County.

It happened on Walnut Grove Road near Manufacturers Road  in Dayton.

Dispatchers confirm a truck was hit by a train. One person was in the vehicle at the time of the crash. That person has been transported to a local hospital for examination and treatment. The person’s condition is not known at this time.
