Morning fog, then overnight storms

Posted: Updated:

Good Wednesday.  After a round of dense patchy fog this morning, we will see a few hours of sunshine during the late morning and early afternoon.  That will allow us to get up to an unseasonably warm high of 68 degrees.  Clouds will build in during the late afternoon and into the evening hours.  We may see a shower or two accompanying the clouds as well.

Late tonight, a front will push in widespread rain (heavy at times) and a few thunderstorms that will last through the overnight and into Thursday morning.  While we will see up to an inch of rain widespread, some areas east and south of Chattanooga may get up to 2".  Skies will clear through the afternoon with a cooler high of 58 (still about 5 degrees above average).

Friday will be mostly sunny as cool air continues to filter in.  We will start with a low in the mid 30s.  The high Friday will only reach about 48.

The weekend will start cold both Saturday and Sunday.  Lows will be around 30 degrees both mornings.  Highs both days will climb into the 50s: 55 Saturday and 58 Sunday.

Monday marks the beginning of winter, and it looks to be somewhat mild with mostly cloudy skies, a few afternoon showers, and temps ranging from 43 in the morning to 62 in the afternoon.
