Two People Shot Near Tennessee Wesleyan College

ATHENS, TN (WRCB) -

Police in Athens are working to identify two suspects after two people were shot about a block away from Tennessee Wesleyan College.

Police were called to an apartment home at 107 Forrest Avenue shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday night.

Two people at the home told officers two men entered the home and started shooting.

According to a police report, Katherine Morris, 24, was shot in the hand. Morris and a second victim who lived at the home, 51 year-old Keith Tyler, were transported to a local hospital. Both described the suspects only as two black males.

“We are not releasing any suspect information at this time,” said Athens Police Chief Charles Ziegler, who tells Channel 3 his department is still conducting interviews in the case.
