Hale's steal, basket rescue Alabama in 51-50 victory
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Shannon Hale intercepted an inbounds pass for an uncontested jam with 25.6 seconds left to lift Alabama to a 51-50 victory over Clemson on Sunday.
The Crimson Tide (6-2) had given up all of an 11-point lead and trailed 50-49 in the final minute with Clemson in possession and looking to put the game away. However, after a Tiger timeout, Hale stepped in front of Donte Grantham's pass for the easy, go-ahead basket.
Clemson's Avry Holmes missed a floater around the basket and Jaron Blossomgame missed a layup before Alabama regained the ball with 3.3 seconds left to hold on for their fourth straight win.
Retin Obasohan scored a career-high 23 points off four 3-pointers for Alabama, which made only two of its last 14 shots.
Hale finished with 12 points.
Landry Nnoko scored 15 points to lead the Tigers. However, he missed two foul shots that would've extended Clemson's lead.
