Sneak Peek: "Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors"

Posted: Updated:

(NBC)  "Coat of Many Colors" is one of the country music icon Dolly Parton's most famous songs, and now it's the basis for a movie based on her early life as well.

Dolly is definitely one of a kind, so finding someone to portray her was a tall order.

8-year-old Alyvia Alyn Lind beat out hundreds of girls for the starring role.

"I saw spunk, I saw ambition, I saw a little girl with dreams," Parton says of the actress playing her younger self.

Lind's been acting since she was 4 and felt at ease playing a young girl who would become a legend.

"I didn't feel nervous at all when I met her because I felt so loved and so comfortable near her," Lind says of Parton.
"Coat of Many Colors" also stars Ricky Schroder and country star Jennifer Nettles as Parton's parents.  It airs thursday night on NBC.
