CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -
A Chattanooga father is facing a list of charges after allegedly driving drunk with six children on board.
A Chattanooga Police Officer pulled Dennis Terry Jr., 35, over shortly after 9pm on December 4. The officer noted a problem with the taillight on Terry’s Jeep.
According to court documents, the officer found two children, ages 7 and 9, in the back seat. Four other children, ages 5, 6, 7 and 9, were in the second row seat. None of the children on board were wearing seat belts or in car seats.
The officer noted the smell of alcohol when he approached the vehicle. He found a small bottle of Bacardi rum in the center console.
Terry told the officer he drank a 32 ounce beer, a sample bottle of Bacardi and a shot of alcohol before driving. Terry consented to a breath test, which showed his blood alcohol level to be .097, above the legal limit.
Terry was charged with driving under the influence, financial responsibility and six counts of reckless endangerment and child endangerment.
