DEARBORN, MI (AP) - A museum focused on Arab American history and culture is staging an exhibit about St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which was founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas.

The exhibit at the Arab American National Museum in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn opens Friday and runs through May. It features artifacts relating to the Memphis, Tennessee-based hospital Thomas founded in 1962.

The exhibit is called "An Enduring Legacy: Danny Thomas and ALSAC/St. Jude." The acronym stands for American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities, a nonprofit organization that created the exhibit and finances the hospital's operation and maintenance.

Thomas, who was an actor and producer, was born in 1912 to Lebanese parents in the Michigan village of Deerfield, about 50 miles southwest of Detroit. He was mainly raised in Toledo, Ohio.
