Flo Samuels helps load 525 containers.

“It’s a team effort, everyone chips in and does their part,” said Flo Samuels.

In it is a Thanksgiving meal. The food is given to seniors who may be alone this Thanksgiving. 

“I’m just going through a lot right now. I lost my daddy in June,” said Debra Herrera.

Each volunteer at The Salvation Army has their own story for why they help.

“When I was a child we use to go up to 14th Street and 8th Avenue to The Salvation Army at Christmas, and they would give us food and a game, and a hat and gloves,” said Samuels.

For Flo Samuels this is a way to express her gratitude, on an American day of giving.

“And i just wanted to give back something,” said Samuels.
