School officials evacuated the school due to the heavy smoke surrounding the portable classroom buildings.
An early morning car fire Tuesday at Sale Creek Middle/High School forced the temporary evacuation of the school due to smoke.
The evacuation, done as a precautionary measure, only lasted for about 20 minutes and was due to smoke, not danger from the car fire.
Firefighters were able to quickly to contain the fire. No injuries were reported.
Sale Creek VFD Chief, Jimbo Aslinger, reported that a 2001 Ford Mustang was on fire and has been determined to be a total loss.
A Chevy Truck parked next to the Ford Mustang received heat and fire damage.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
