Stolen car creates scare and headache in Ringgold

Posted: Updated:

A busy afternoon at a Ringgold convenience store Monday as police found a car listed as stolen.

But, when the vehicle’s license plates were checked, they discovered the vehicle was linked to a man who was in the custody of the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office and had been recently booked for making threats against President Barack Obama.

Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk tells Channel 3 that as the car was being examined further, some wiring was found on the car, prompting the dispatch of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Bomb Squad to the MegaStar Food Mart at the intersection of Old Alabama and Mt. Pisgah Roads.

The area was cordoned off as a safety precaution, and the bomb squad went to work to check the vehicle.

The bomb squad concluded that the wiring didn’t pose any danger and the area around the store has been declared clear.
