Operation Christmas Child kicks off in Chattanooga
People in the Tennessee Valley can help make an overseas child's Christmas special this year through the Operation Christmas Child program.
Organizers ask for participants to stuff a shoe box with toys, educational items or hygiene products. Then drop it off at Dallas Bay Baptist Church or one of the many area locations plus $7 to pay for shipping. Volunteers will then ship the shoe box to a child overseas who will then get to celebrate by opening a present they wouldn't otherwise receive.
"This program is just about sharing the love of God with children around the world," said Collection Center Coordinator Tonya Greer. "It's very special to them to know they're loved and not forgotten."
The goal is to get 44,000 shoe boxes in the Cleveland and Chattanooga areas. The last day to donate is Monday, November 23.
