MONTGOMERY, AL – The (19) College of Coastal Georgia eliminated Dalton State in straight sets in the semifinal round Saturday on their way to their second consecutive Southern States Athletic Conference volleyball championship.

The Roadrunners scored the first three points of the third set but Coastal Georgia then also scored three in a row. DS took their final lead of the match at 4-3 before the Mariners pulled away for the 25-14 win.

"This hasn't been our easiest season," said Dalton State Coach Bruna Langner. "We struggled a little bit, but started to pick up by the end," she added. "I am really proud of the girls. They played an incredible tournament. This is only our second year in a conference and we again tied for third with Faulkner (AL)."

The University of Mobile eliminated Faulkner 3-1 in the other semifinal match. The Eagles won the first set 25-20, but the Rams came back to win three in a row with scores of 25-22, 25-13, and 25-20.

Coastal Georgia went on to win the SSAC Championship 3 sets to 1 over Mobile. It was the Rams that could only win the first set they went out to a 25-20 victory. The Mariners came back to finish the match – 25-18, 25-17 and 25-19.
