Fresh back from the Big Apple where they marched in the NYC Veterans Day Parade, we say hello the Heritage High School Legion of Generals!

Their halftime show, this year, was called "I Am Spartacus." It followed the well-known story of the one-time slave becoming the champion of the Roman people. I asked Band Director Blair Callaway if it was hard to get the students on board for this history lesson. He said he took them into the auditorium to play them the music and show them the story and they loved it from the very beginning and were excited from the first note.

There are 170 in the group, this year and, on top of being super musical and very talented, they also have a flair for creativity. We were treated to a mass of incredible costumes from super heroes to an entire banana sax section!

They took part in three competitions and, boy did they do well, winning Grand Champion in two and 2nd place in the third out of 31 bands at the meet. While the marching band may be finished for the season, the opportunities just keep rolling for the group. The Wind Ensemble has been invited to play at the University of Alabama for a special Honors Band in the spring.

The groups fund raising efforts have just about ended for the year, but if you would ever like to help out, contact Mr. Callaway at the Heritage Band Room.

One more bit of exciting news, only 125 seniors are selected from across the country to participate in the US Army   Army All-American Marching Band. This year, two are from Heritage High School. Congratulations to Sean Kwak and Vitaliy Popovych for this high honor!

Enjoy the Heritage High Legion of Generals from the home stands on Halloween, our Friday Night Football Band of the Week!
