DAY AND GILLEY WIN THE TOW BOAT U.S. 2015 CLASSIC CHAMPIONSHIP

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - The team of Carter Day and Scott Gilley posted a two day total catch of 10 bass weighing a record breaking 52.25 pounds to take the win in the 2015 Tow Boat U.S. Chattanooga Bass Association Classic Championship on Lake Chickamauga.  

Carter said "We fished frogs in the grass both days of the tournament and were just lucky to get some really big bites each day”. 

This years’ winning weight of 52.25 is the heaviest ever posted to win this 2 day event. On Saturday, there were 3 different teams that weighed a 5 bass limit weighing over 30 pounds.

Day One Big Fish Winners:
Tom Kizzah, Sr. and Tom Kizzah, Jr. with a 9.64 lb. largemouth good for $440
Stoney Johnson and David Craft with a 8.84 lb. largemouth good for $250

Day Two Big Fish Winners:
Mike Looney and Chris Grant with a 8.49 lb. largemouth good for $440
Tom Helton with a 7.61 lb. largemouth good for $250

This event was held at Chester Frost Park where 74 teams battled for the prestigious honor of 2015 CBA, Tow Boat U.S. Bass Classic Champions and $10,000.00 first place money.  The total payout of this year's two-day event totaled $60,000.00.

The fishermen had excellent conditions both days which made fishing excellent for many teams in this 38th year old event.

6th Greg Lamb and Buddy Gross, 42.74 lbs., $1,700
7th Galen James and Tony Townsend, 41.60 lbs., $1,600
8th Andy Lusk and Shawn Lusk, 40.50 lbs., $1,500
9th Mike Looney and Chris Grant, 38.98 lbs., $1,400
10th Dusty Elrod and Thomas Henshaw 37.67 lbs., $1,300
