Band of the Week: Northwest Whitfield
How could you go wrong with a group named the Sound of the Blazing Blue? The guys and gals from Northwest Whitfield High School do not disappoint! This group is looking forward to playoffs, Williamsburg, and more, but first as Band of the Week they play their fight song for us from the stands on the road at Ringgold.
How could you go wrong with a group named the Sound of the Blazing Blue? Well, you certainly cannot and the guys and gals from Northwest Whitfield High School do not disappoint!
This band is 135 members strong and had an amazing season. In addition to home and away games, they marched two competitions, one in Armuchee the other in Rome, GA, and scored all Superior ratings. The halftime show is called "On Fire" and, yes, all the tunes had to do with fire. The songs included recognizable hits from James Taylor, Adele, and a favorite of all fan bases, "Light `Em Up" by Fallout Boy.
Ben Milan has been at the school for 13 years and is enjoying his second year as the head director. He tells us they have had a great year and the fun is not quite over. The Sound of the Blazing Blue has been invited to play in downtown Williamsburg, VA this spring. They are currently raising money to cover all the expenses by selling citrus. So, if you are interested in fruit or you just want to help these awesome students take a great trip, get in touch with Mr. Milam: firstname.lastname@example.org
Milam says the community always supports the group in a big way and they sure do appreciate it.
Good luck to the Northwest High Bruins in the playoffs and thanks to the Sound of the Blazing Blue for being our Friday Night Football Band of the Week. Enjoy their fight song!
